According to Midland, Texas Police Department, Nathan Heidelberg lost his life in the line of duty Monday night when he was mistaken as a burglar.
Officer Heidelberg was one of four officers who responded to a burglar alarm Monday night. Despite their “loud announcement of their presence,” the homeowner thought his home was being broken into.
Homeowner fired several shots toward the flashlight, being held by Heidelberg, officer was hit above his protective vest.
Heidelberg ‘s body will be transported to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
