Hunt County resident Brian Sims was recognized this week with the FEC Life Saving Award. This award is given to individuals who’s actions saved the life of another human being. On June 8th, 2018 Brian was working near Lake Tawakoni when he noticed a woman struggling to reach her raft in the water. Mr. Sims immediately realized she was in real danger and didn’t hesitate to jump into action. When he reached her, she was unresponsive. Although he was exhausted, Brian wasn’t giving up and finally made it back to shore with the woman. A short time later, first responders made scene and took over life-saving measures. Miraculously, and no doubt thanks to Brian Sims’ bravery, the woman survived and later reached out over social media in hopes of finding her hero. She and Brian still communicate with each other to this day. You can watch Brian’s account of what happened that day in the link we have provided above.
