DPS has released the following statement regarding the major accident on Hwy 34 South of Quinlan on Saturday.
The preliminary investigation indicates a grey Ford Escape coming from private road 3780 failed to yield to a cement truck while turning South onto State Highway 34. The cement truck was traveling South on SH-34 and attempted to avoid hitting the Ford Escape but clipped the back drivers side then then crossed into the North bound lanes of travel hitting a Ford Flex head on.
The driver and passenger of the Ford Escape were transported by Medical Helicopters with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the cement truck was transported by Hunt County EMS to Hunt Regional Medical Center of Quinlan with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford Flex was pronounced deceased on scene.
Name of the deceased has not been released. DPS will continue their investigation of the accident
