DALLAS, Texas – An Amber Alert for a 4-year-old child in Dallas has been canceled, according to the Dallas Police Department.
The police department posted an update to its Facebook page saying the child is with his mother in Mexico and was never in any danger.
Dallas police said the father of 4-year-old Fermin Fuentes reported his vehicle stolen with the child still inside. Police said the silver 2006 Ford Five Hundred was stolen outside a McDonald’s, but was later located around 10 p.m. Sunday, according to reports.
According to the authorities, the father had inconsistencies in his report of the incident and after further investigation, they learned the child was in Mexico with his mother and had never been inside the vehicle when it was reported stolen.
Police said the father has not been taken into custody. It has yet to be determined if he will face any charges, police said.
