Shots Fired During A Family Violence Dispute Wednesday Morning

On July 24, 2019 at approximately 2:50 a.m. Hunt County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of shots being fired inside a residence with possibly one person that had been wounded.
The residence was located in the 3700 block of FM 2649 and initial reports indicated that the suspect had fired a shot and struck a female in the residence. Deputies arrived within minutes and sat up a perimeter around the residence while attempting to communicate inside the residence. Deputies heard what sounded like hammering and glass breaking inside the residence and all attempts at communicating with the suspect were unsuccessful. The suspect exited the residence through a side window and confronted Deputy’s and a West Tawakoni Police Officer while holding a hatchet in his hand. The suspect refused to drop the weapon and a Taser was deployed. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The female was transported by AMR for injuries she sustained in the attack and her condition is not known at this time.

Sheriff Meeks stated: “My prayers are with the victim today that she has a speedy recovery for the injuries she sustained. I want to commend all the Deputy’s that were out there this morning as well as the West Tawakoni Police Department for the assistance. These officers reacted exemplary faced with a very dangerous situation”.
