On March 8, 2021, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Dallas Police responded to a shooting call at a shopping center located at 10325 Lake June Road. Dallas Fire and Rescue arrived and transported the victim, Don-Yeah Hill, a 17-year-old Black male, to an area hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
The suspect, Jalynn Lester, a 17-year-old Black male, was interviewed by a detective with the Homicide Unit and stated that he accidentally shot the victim while trying to break down a handgun. The suspect was subsequently transported to Lew Sterrett Jail and charged with manslaughter, a felony of the second degree. His bond will be set by a Dallas County Magistrate.
