
Suspect Arrested In Leonard Bank Robbery
On Friday, August 20, 2021, at approximately 5:56 p.m., the First United Bank located at 200 W Collin St, Leonard, TX 75452, reported a robbery. Information gathered at the scene indicated that the suspect presented a note to the teller who provided an undisclosed amount of currency. There was no gun displayed and there were no injuries.
An all-points bulletin was sent to area police departments in the area and approximately an hour later, the City of Bells Police Department affected a traffic stop on a vehicle matching the description from the Leonard robbery.
A Kevin James Long 29 yoa from Trenton, Texas was placed into custody for Investigation of Bank Robbery. Subsequently, through investigation and evidence collected, Investigators believe that Mr. Long is responsible for other bank robberies in the North Texas area for approximately the last two years.
The Farmersville Police Department has been working in conjunction with the FBI, Texas Rangers, and other area law enforcement agencies since our first robbery in August of 2020 as well our last one on August 13th, 2021. Federal and State Authorities’ will seek to file additional charges related to additional robberies that have occurred.
This case remains under investigation and leads are still being followed.
