Winston-Salem: Authorities respond to shooting at Mount Tabor High School

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- Police are at the scene of a shooting at Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem dispatchers said the call came in from the school resource officer just after 12 p.m. Wednesday that a student had been shot.

We can confirm that the child who was shot, passed away from their injuries.

1 p.m. UPDATE: The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that there has been a shooting at Mount Tabor High School.

Police have secured the campus and police said they are doing everything to keep students safe.

Deputies are actively investigation what happened and will share more information when available.

Parents are urged to meet their students at the Harris Teeter grocery store, 1955 N. Peace Haven Road.

12:50 p.m. UPDATE: Mount Tabor High School is currently on lockdown, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

12:45 p.m. UPDATE: Parents are urged to not go to the high school to find their students.
