Major 18 Wheeler Accident Closes Down I-30EB Overnight

Several Departments from Hunt County responded to a major 18 wheeler accident early Monday morning.

Hunt County dispatched it’s units to I-30 Eastbound, 1 mile West of FM 1565 early Monday morning for reports of a major MVA Involving several 18 wheelers on with possible injuries

Before arriving on scene incoming units were advised 1 of the 18 wheelers had caught on fire. When units arrived on scene the truck was fully engulfed in flames.

Royse City PD had units on scene, along with Hunt County Sheriff’s Office assisting in traffic control.

Fire units were able to extinguish the fire, leaving nothing left of the semi truck. In the picture you can see the frame of the 18 wheeler, with the tanker trailer still attached.

Reports from a follower suggest a 18 wheeler was parked on the side of I-30 Eastbound with it’s hazard lights flashing. The follower told us for an unknown reason the other 18 wheeler swerved, hitting the parked truck that was sitting on the side of the roadway.

A medical helicopter was sent to the scene to fly a patient out to a Dallas area hospital. At this time it is unknown on the seriousness of the injuries, or if one or both of the drivers were injured.

Wreckers were on the scene clearing the roadway as of 3:00a.m.
