Subject Arrested For Shooting At The Tulsa International Airport

On November 30th just before midnight, Tulsa Police Officers were dispatched to an active shooter near the baggage claim area at the Tulsa International Airport.

A few hours before the shooting, we received a call that Joseph Watson was planning to harm his wife when she arrived on a flight from Texas that evening. Airport police were notified of the threat.

Watson made his way to the airport and waited until he saw his estranged wife leave the building, he then opened fire on her and several innocent bystanders. Tulsa International Airport Police ran towards the suspect and confronted him as he was trying to get to his vehicle. A gunfight ensued between the TIA Officer and Watson, the Officer was shot in the chest and Watson was shot in the leg.

Tulsa Police Officers converged on the scene at the exact moment of the shooting and found both the TIA Officer and Watson in the parking garage.

Watson was taken into custody and both he and the Officer received medical attention for their injuries.

Fortunately, the TIA Officer was wearing body armor when he was struck, he was treated and released at the hospital.

Watson was transported to the hospital for treatment and is now booked into jail.

Watson had 3 guns on him at the time of the shooting. Fortunately, no one else was seriously injured.

Watson is now in the Tulsa County Jail. He was arrested for:

  • Shooting with Intent to Kill x 3 AFCF (After former conviction of a felony)
  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon AFCF
  • Possession of a Firearm x 3 AFCF
  • Threatening a Violent Act
  • Knowingly Concealing Stolen Property AFCF
