Shoplifter Injures Store Clerk Then Leads Greenville Officers On A Short Pursuit Sunday Afternoon

GREENVILLE: Janelle Charrier was booked into the Hunt County Detention Center Sunday afternoon on several charges after assaulting a store clerk and leading officers on a short pursuit.

Greenville Police Department Released This Statement:

At approximately 1:48 p.m. on December 5, 2021, Greenville Police Department
Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 3800 block of Wesley Street.

It was determined that a shoplifter injured one of the clerks who was attempting to detain the shoplifter for theft.

The theft suspect was arrested a short time later after attempting to evade officers in a vehicle. We were told by several followers that the vehicle was driving very recklessly attempting to escape custody.

Due to the injuries caused by the suspect in this incident the suspect was charged with robbery, along with evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.

The injury incurred by the store clerk was minor.
