Jury Trial Starts Monday In Hunt County Intoxication Manslaughter Case

Jury trial starts on Monday for a Collin County woman who hit and killed a pedestrian back in 2019.

The trial starts Monday for Kimberly Lyle Arnold who was indicted back in December 2019 on charges of Intoxication Manslaughter W/Vehicle.

Greenville Police Department responded to a call of “Vehicle Vs Pedestrian” on September 22, 2019, around 9:30 P.M. in the 1500 block of Lee Street. Reports are a pedestrian was walking down the shoulder of Lee Street when a vehicle being driven by Mrs. Arnold reportedly struck the person who was walking, then hit another vehicle.

The female subject who was hit, later identified as Yolanda Garza, passed away from her injuries.

The indictment was served in December of 2019 with Arnold being taken into custody. Arnold is currently being held in the Hunt County Detention Center, Arnold has pleaded not guilty.

Intoxication Manslaughter Is When You Cause The Death Of Another Person By Accident Or Mistake While Committing The Act Of BWI, FWI, Or While Operating A Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated In A Public Place (DWI) And By Reason Of Your Intoxication.

An Intoxication Manslaughter Offense Under This Section Is A Felony Of The Second Degree, Which May Result In A Fine Up To $10,000 And 2 To 20 Years In The Texas Department Of Criminal Justice And A Driver’s License Suspension Ranging From 180 Days To 2 Years.

Even In Situations Where Probation Is Granted, There Is Still A Requirement Of A 120 Day Jail Sentence.
