A subject standing in the roadway early this morning was hit & killed by a vehicle. DPS released this statement.
At approximately 4:40 a.m. Highway Patrol Troopers were dispatched to a major crash at State Highway 276 involving a pedestrian.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Black Ford F-250 was traveling eastbound on S.H. 276 for a yet-to-be-determined reason a pedestrian was standing in the eastbound lane of travel, the pick-up truck was unable to take evasive action and struck the pedestrian.
The driver of the pick-up was not injured, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene.
The investigation is ongoing and no further information is available at this time.
