Quinlan Man Arrested After Leading Deputies On Pursuit Wednesday Afternoon

A Quinlan man identified as 33-year-old Timothy Joe Hartgrove faces multiple charges following an investigation into a disturbance with weapons call.

The incident happened around 8:00 PM on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Hunt County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance with weapons call in the 9200 block of Sabine Drive in Quinlan. When officers arrived at the location, Hartgrove had already left the scene. While officers were out speaking with witnesses, Hartgrove returned and began shouting profanities from the window of his vehicle. Officers on scene gave verbal commands to Hartgrove to exit the vehicle and discuss the situation. Eventually, Hartgrove stepped out of the vehicle and officers observed a holstered firearm on Hartgroves waist, officers convinced him to remove the holster and firearm from his hip. Officers then moved towards Hatgrove in an attempt to detain him and keep him from retrieving the firearm. Hartgrove began screaming at officers and would not comply with their commands. At that time a Hawk Cove Police Officer used a less than lethal weapon (taser) on Hargrove and it was ineffective. Hartgrove then ran to a nearby vehicle and got in an attempt to flee from officers. Two Officers with the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office used a less than lethal weapon (taser) through the windows of the vehicle and the tasers were once again ineffective. Hartgrove was able to get the vehicle in gear and led officers on a high-speed chase. Officers lost sight of the vehicle due to the high rate of speed and the county roads they were traveling on. Officers then received information on the whereabouts of Hartgrove, officers went to the location and took him into custody.

En route to the Hunt County Detention Center, Hartgrove started to complain about some type of medical issues, and aid was rendered by the transporting officer. While the officer was rendering aid, Hartgrove became combative and had to be placed in more restrictive restraints. American Medical Response responded to the scene to check Hartgroves vitals and he was cleared to be transported to the jail. Hartgrove was booked into the Hunt County Jail and faces the following charges:

  • Evading Arrest, $15,000.00 bond
  • Resist Arrest, $4,000.00 bond
  • Assault Causing Bodily Injury $5,000.00 bond
  • Unlicensed Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, $35,000.00 bond
  • Interference With an Emergency Call, $3,000.00 bond
  • Prohibited Substance/Item in a Correction Facility x 2, $35,000.00 bond each

Hartgrove is also being held on warrants for two other law enforcement agencies.

Hunt County Sheriff Terry Jones would like to commend Deputies for their professionalism and outstanding teamwork in getting Hartgrove in custody without anyone being seriously injured. Sheriff Jones also expresses appreciation to the Hawk Cove Police Department for their assistance.
