Shortly before 10:30 p.m. on April 19th, a Rockwall County deputy was working routine patrol on eastbound Interstate 30 in Royse City. The deputy conducted a registration check on a pickup and determined the license plate did not match the vehicle that was supposed to be wearing it.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the pickup, approached the pickup on foot, and then observed the pickup take off. The deputy pursued the fleeing pickup as it was being driven recklessly in and out of traffic. The pickup finally stopped in a nearby parking lot, at which point the driver fled on foot. Fate DPS and Royse City PD officers assisted with the effort to locate the suspect.
Rockwall County Stated “Our capable canine was deployed, and he had no trouble locating the loser of this hide-and-seek game.”
The pickup was determined to have been stolen. The suspect identified from booking reports as FERNANDO DURAN was transported to the Rockwall County Detention Center and booked in on charges of:
- UNAUTH USE OF VEHICLE
- EVADING ARREST DETENTION
- EVADING ARREST DET W/VEH
Rockwall County stated in a Facebook Comment they look forward to reuniting the stolen pickup with its rightful owner.
