Suspect In Custody After Leading Officers On An Overnight Pursuit Through 3 Counties

On May 17th at around 2:00 a.m., a Rockwall County deputy was working on Interstate 30 in Royse City, when he attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle.

The vehicle’s driver accelerated, passed vehicles on the shoulder, and continued evading all the way to Mesquite. A DPS aircraft unit provided assistance to pursuing deputies. The fleeing vehicle finally struck a retaining wall on Interstate 30 in Mesquite, causing disabling damage to the vehicle.

Following a successful felony takedown, the suspect was arrested for Evading Detention with a Vehicle.

Mesquite PD investigated the crash. It was subsequently determined that the fleeing suspect had evaded Collin County along with Hunt County Deputies in an earlier pursuit which entered Hunt County on Highway 380. When asked why he ran, the suspect said he was afraid his uninsured vehicle would be impounded.

The suspect identified from booking reports as MALIK FREDRICK MOORE, from Mesquite, was booked into the Rockwall County Detention Center.
