Rains County, TX – Authorities confirmed that human remains were discovered Wednesday afternoon along Highway 276 in Rains County. A bicycle was also recovered at the scene, and multiple agencies are now investigating.
The Texas Rangers, Rains County Sheriff’s Office, and Hunt County Sheriff’s Office are all involved in the ongoing investigation. As of now, the identity of the remains has not been confirmed.
This discovery brings renewed attention to the long-standing disappearance of Dallas firefighter Michael Chambers, who vanished several years ago. During an interview with former Hunt County Sheriff Randy Meeks, he stated that investigators believed Chambers had ridden a bicycle away from his home near FM 2101 before disappearing. Chambers has not been heard from since.
