Suspect In Custody After Attempting To Run Over Deputy With 18 Wheeler

Shortly after 10:00PM, Sunday night, Hunt County Deputies responded to the 3800 block of FM 118 in reference to a disturbance between family members. While officers were enroute, the caller stated the suspect was throwing things around the home, attempting to locate a firearm.

When deputies arrived on scene, per scanner traffic, the deputy advised the suspect was getting into a 18 wheeler. The suspect then started driving the truck up and down the driveway. A deputy came over the radio a short time later advising he needed assistance, as the suspect attempted to run him over. Greenville Police Department along with several other Hunt County Deputies responded to assist.

At some point the deputy made contact with the suspect, an altercation took place, the deputy deployed his taser which was unsuccessful in subduing the suspect who then started back towards the residence where the disturbance took place.

Assisting deputies and officers with the Greenville Police Department arrived on scene and the suspect was taken into police custody. Hunt County EMS responded to the scene with 2 units to assist with the injured.

The suspect identified from booking reports as Abel Nieves Gonzalez of Greenville was booked into the Hunt County Detention Center on charges of:

– AGG ASSAULT AGAINST PUBLIC SERVANT

-OBSTRUCTION OR RETALIATION

-AGG ASSAULT DATE/FAMILY/HOUSE W/WEAPON

-EVADING ARREST DETENTION

-RESIST ARREST SEARCH OR TRANSPORT

-ATTEMPT TO TAKE WEAPON FROM AN OFFICER

As of 2:30PM Gonzalez remains booked in the Hunt County Jail awaiting arraignment.
