
On Saturday, just after midnight, Deputy T. Steward with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle for defective equipment.
When the Deputy activated his lights and siren, the vehicle took off East on Houston Street at a high rate of speed, refusing to stop. The vehicle turned left & turned right, as the deputy stayed hot on his trail. The suspect vehicle approached Loop 301 and continued eastbound before hitting a ditch, coming to a stop in a creek. The suspect identified as Allen Hurst Davis III, took off on foot after wrecking out.
Once on foot, Davis took off South, running like a track star across interstate 30, backup deputies were able to catch up to the suspect, having to deploy taser to subdue Davis in the middle of the Interstate. Davis was then taken into Custody.
During the roadside investigation Deputies located a clear baggie containing a crystal like substance, believed to be methamphetamine in the suspects pocket.
Deputies conducted a probable cause search of the vehicle, locating several plastic containers containing a white crystal like substance, suspected of being methamphetamine, and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
Hopkins County EMS was called to the scene to remove the taser prongs from the suspect, with Davis eventually being transported to Christus Mother Frances, were he was cleared by medical professionals. Davis was transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center and released to jailers.
When deputies tested the drugs located, the drugs tested positive for methamphetamine, and weighed 44 grams.
Did you think it was over? The next day when Deputies returned to their shift, they learned that Davis was not telling the truth when he was asked to identify himself, police report states Davis gave a false name. Davis was identified, and was then given an extra charge for (Failure To Identify).

Davis remains in the Hopkins County Detention Center awaiting arraignment.
