Quinlan Woman Arrested In South Texas For Smuggling Illegals – Leading Officers On High Speed Chase

A pair of Texas women are in custody, after leading deputies and DPS on a high-speed chase from US 90 onto SH 131– ending near Highway 277 in Maverick County.

During the chase, they stopped several times, allowing illegal aliens to bail out and run into the brush.

Many times, this is done in the mistaken belief that drivers can avoid charges if there are no aliens in the car when they’re finally stopped.

This is not the case. Both the driver and passenger are charged with 10 counts of smuggling of persons and evading arrest with a vehicle.

They’re identified as Joanna Jeanette Bermea from Gonzalez, TX, near San Antonio, and Cynthia Rashel Vonette Stewart from Quinlan, TX, near Dallas.
