Denton County Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Sending Threats To Jewish Civil Rights Organization

Sherman, Texas – A Denton business owner wanted the Jewish community in the U.S. to know exactly what he thought about them, the feds say.

Anthony Joseph Hammer has been sentenced to federal prison for sending electronic threats to (ADL) Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish civil rights organization.

The United States Attorney’s Office announced in a press release Tuesday, that Anthony Joseph Hammer, 34 pleaded guilty on May 4, 2022 to a charge of {Interstate Communication Of A Threat} being sentenced to 24 months in federal prison.

According to reports, Hammer sent several threatening electronic messages, to ADL’s website. In his messages he stated the following: “Come And Find Me” “Come After Me” Come Hunt Me Down” “This is Me”. ending the messages with “I Will Kill All Of You Zionist Pigs”.

Hammer was already being investigated by Federal agents, in reference to an incident that happen prior to the ADL incident. Reports state Hammer called the office of Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, requesting to speak with him. This happened seven times, all seven times being refused. Hammer repeatedly threatened to kill Wolf and his staff members.

The FBI stated in a release that “The FBI is tasked with upholding the Constitution, including the right to free speech” but this fell outside of the protected right, with the several threats.

Us Attorney Brit Featherston stated, “Hammer Believed he could promote his malicious agenda by making threats to kill and to disrupt business, that is why he is going to jail and being punished, others who do the same will also see punishment”.

Harris will spend the next 2 years locked away in a federal prison.
