Early Morning Sulphur Springs Pursuit Ends In Delta County With 2 Taken Into Custody

In the early hours of July 1, 2023, around 2:30 A.M, Officer Cook with Sulphur Springs PD noticed a traffic violation involving a 2011 Nissan Maxima in the 900 block of N. Hillcrest Dr.

Officer Cook activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. However, before stopping, the vehicle’s occupants threw a clear bag out of the passenger side window. Despite this, the vehicle accelerated and continued heading north on N. Hillcrest Dr, leading officers on a pursuit. The pursuit extended into Delta County until stop sticks were successfully deployed. Eventually, the vehicle came to a stop on Highway 24 near County Road 4220 in Delta County.

Lenzie Foley of Quitman operated the vehicle, while Elizabeth Cadena of Sulphur Springs, occupied the passenger seat. Both individuals complied with Verbal Commands and were taken into custody without further incident. Two small bags containing a green, leafy substance, estimated to be around 18 grams, were discovered inside the car, believed to be marijuana.

The male was informed of their Miranda Rights and claimed to be unaware of any drugs present in the vehicle. The female individual was also informed of her Miranda Rights but declined to speak with officers.

Later on, a deputy from Hopkins County discovered a clear bag on the side of the roadway, which contained marijuana. The bag was found in the exact location that the arresting officer had described as the spot where the illegal substance was thrown from the vehicles passenger window.

Cadena & Foley was transported to the Hopkins County Jail and processed without any issues.

1) TAMPER/FABRICATE PHYS EVID W/INTENT TO IMPAIR

2) POSS MARIJ < 2OZ

Lenzie Foley was booked in on charges of:

1) EVADING ARREST DET W/VEH

2) TAMPER/FABRICATE PHYS EVID W/INTENT TO IMPAIR

3) POSS MARIJ < 2OZ

All subjects are innocent until proven guilty by the court of law.
