On Thursday morning, at approximately 7:30 A.M., there was a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment in the 5600 block of FM 36, near County Road 2512. Hunt County EMS and Cash Rescue responded to the scene, along with units from DPS and Hunt County Sheriff’s Office.
Cash Fire & Rescue arrived at the scene and discovered a semi-truck, transporting fuel, involved in an accident with a passenger vehicle. Cash Fire confirmed one person was trapped in the wreckage.
Upon the arrival of DPS units, they immediately requested Hazmat to respond due to the fuel leakage from the 18-wheeler’s fuel tanks. However, the trailer itself was not leaking fuel, according to DPS scanner traffic.
Cash Fire successfully extricated one patient, who was then transported by Hunt County EMS. At the time of writing, the condition of the patient remains unknown.
FM 36 had to be closed for a considerable period of time while the crews worked diligently to clean and clear the roadway. We commend all the departments involved for their outstanding efforts.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in this incident. We will provide updates as we gather more information.
