At approximately 9:30 P.M on September 1, 2023, emergency medical services (EMS), Bailey Fire, the Fannin County Sheriff’s Office, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) promptly responded to a distress call regarding a pedestrian accident. The incident occurred on State Highway 78 in Bailey, TX.
The DPS conducted a thorough investigation into this unfortunate event and has now shared their findings. According to their report, Kenneth Duckworth, an elderly gentleman aged 87 years old, was walking along the northern edge of Highway 78 where there were no streetlights illuminating the area. Tragically, he was struck by a passing vehicle.
Regrettably, Mr. Duckworth succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Bob Clemons.
