Hopkins County Deputy J. Wilkerson received a notification about an incident of an inmate attacking a Corrections Officer in the Hopkins County Jail. The Deputy promptly went to the Jail and observed that the Corrections Officer had visible redness on both sides of his face, along with dried blood.
The Jail Staff informed the Deputy that they were in the process of relocating inmates from their cells to the recreation room when Gregory Oldfield Jr., one of the inmates, became uncooperative. In an attempt to restrain Oldfield Jr., he started striking the corrections officer in his face, causing injury. Eventually, with assistance from other Jail Staff members, they managed to gain control over Oldfield Jr. and proceeded to escort him to a V-Cell.
Deputy Wilkerson made an effort to speak with Oldfield Jr., but it became evident that he did not want to engage in conversation with him. Consequently, Deputy Wilkerson informed Oldfield Jr. about his additional charge and proceeded with booking him for this new offense.
Gregory Lee Oldfield Jr., 25, of Garland, Texas had a new charge added of:
1) ASSAULT PUBLIC SERVANT
Oldfield Jr. was already in jail on charges of:
1) AGG ASSAULT BY PUB SERVANT (FANNIN CO)
2) AGG ASSAULT BY PUB SERVANT (FANNIN CO)
