3 killed in crash involving semi on I-30

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), three individuals in a passenger vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene.

CAMPBELL, Texas — Three people died in a major crash on Interstate 30 just east of Greenville on Thursday night, involving an 18 wheeler, and a single vehicle.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said troopers were dispatched at approximately 8:30 p.m. Thursday to the crash, which happened approximately a mile from Campbell, DPS said preliminary information indicated that a semi-truck was traveling westbound on I-30 when a two-door passenger vehicle pulled from the shoulder in front of it. This caused the semi-truck to lose control, where the truck entered the Northbound service road, hitting a fence and coming to a stop, with the passenger vehicle entrapped under the semi.

Campbell Fire & Cash Fire responded along with Hunt County AMR, units arrived on scene finding the cab of the truck fully engulfed in flames. The fire was quickly extinguished.

The driver of the semi-truck, according to DPS officials, did not sustain any injuries.

As reported by DPS officials, all three individuals in the passenger vehicle were declared deceased at the location of the accident.

This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
