Weekend Accident In Greenville On Joe Ramsey Blvd Claims The Life Of One

On October 14, 2023, at approximately 9:53 a.m., the Greenville Police Department received a report of a collision involving a commercial motor vehicle and a passenger car in the 1600 block of North Joe Ramsey Boulevard, close to Delano Street. Police and other emergency personnel responded to the scene to provide medical aid, traffic control, and investigate the collision.

When emergency personnel arrived, life-saving measures were attempted without success. The operator of the passenger car, identified as Charlotte Igwe, was later pronounced deceased by
Justice of the Peace Kerry Crews, and he conducted an inquest. Charlotte Igwe’s next of kin were notified, and an autopsy was ordered.

Witness information and evidence from the collision investigation indicated the passenger car had been traveling southbound on Joe Ramsey Boulevard while the commercial motor vehicle had been traveling northbound, hauling a load of crushed concrete, when the passenger car veered into the northbound lane of traffic. The commercial motor vehicle operator attempted evasive maneuvers to avoid the collision but was unsuccessful.

No other person reported injuries because of this collision, and no criminal charges are anticipated.
