Delta County Pursuit Ends With One Suspect In Custody

On Friday, October 13, 2023, at 1:14 a.m. Constable Lynch attempted to stop a vehicle on a traffic stop in the area of southeast 2nd Street in Cooper. The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued. Deputies with the Delta County Sheriff’s Office joined the pursuit that led to a residence driveway in the 700 block of East Sherman Street. Constable Lynch and the sheriff office deputies made contact with the driver identified as 42-year-old Cooper resident Robert Nez.

Mr. Nez refused to comply and began resisting arrest. The constable and deputies were able to take Mr. Nez into custody but not before OC spray was deployed. Emergency medical personnel were summoned to the scene and Mr. Nez was medically cleared.

Mr. Nez was transported to the Delta County Jail where he was booked in for a Felony 3 charge of Evading Arrest / Detention with a Vehicle and a Misdemeanor A charge of Resisting Arrest Search or Transport. He is currently being held at the Delta County Jail on $25,000 bond.
