Former Rockwall firefighter arrested on child pornography charges

A former firefighter from Rockwall was taken into custody last month on charges related to child pornography, authorities reported on Saturday. Investigators do not currently believe that any of the children depicted in the images are from Rockwall.

Jason Neal Frankenfield, aged 43, was detained at the Rockwall County jail on June 28 for possessing child pornography, as indicated by online records. His bail was established at $100,000, and he was released on bond the following day, June 29. It remains uncertain whether he has legal representation.

An assistant chief from the Rockwall Fire Department confirmed via email that Frankenfield was employed by the department from June 2018 until his resignation last month.

On June 19, Rockwall police received a tip from the Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding several photos and videos suspected to be child pornography being transmitted from a device within the city. Detectives found sufficient cause to believe that child pornography was disseminated through an online communication app associated with that internet address, which they traced to a residence in the 2600 block of Desert Falls Drive.

On June 28, police executed a search warrant at the identified home to gather further evidence, confirming that Frankenfield would be charged with possession or promotion of child pornography.

Frankenfield was subsequently arrested. Police have indicated that the investigation is still ongoing.
