Sulphur Springs Traffic Stop Uncovers Methamphetamine
In the early hours of Thursday morning, just before 2:00 AM, Officer Corley of the Sulphur Springs Police Department was patrolling the 1600 block of W. Shannon Road when a 1986 Toyota Pickup caught his attention due to a vehicle violation. What initially seemed like a standard traffic stop soon unfolded into a more serious situation.
Upon pulling over the pickup, Officer Corley approached the driver, who immediately appeared nervous during their interaction. When asked to exit the vehicle, the driver’s unease became even more apparent. Officer Corley asked the man to empty his pockets, but as the driver complied, the officer noticed him attempting to push an object further down into one of his pockets.
When requested to turn out his pocket liner, the driver tried to conceal a clear plastic baggie containing a crystal-like substance. Officer Corley quickly spotted the baggie in plain view and detained the driver, later identified as Edmond Hall Jr.
After being read his Miranda rights, Hall admitted the substance was methamphetamine. The baggie was field-tested, confirming it contained 1.48 grams of methamphetamine.
Hall was transported to the Hopkins County Jail, where he was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B >=1G<4G.
This incident serves as a reminder of the crucial role our law enforcement officers play in maintaining safety within our community. Their vigilance and attention to detail help prevent dangerous substances from circulating in our neighborhoods.
