Man Arrested on Hopkins County Warrants Found with Drugs During Transport

Hopkins County, TX – A man arrested on outstanding Hopkins County warrants was found in possession of illegal drugs during his transport to the county jail. Quintis Weatherall, 53, was apprehended by Commerce Police on January 16, 2025, and later handed over to Hopkins County deputies at a meeting point along Highway 275.

Commerce Police officers initially detained Weatherall on active warrants issued in Hopkins County, which included charges for possession of a controlled substance, driving with an invalid license, and an open container violation. Hopkins County deputies met Commerce Police officers along Highway 275 to take custody of Weatherall for transport to the Hopkins County Jail.

Upon arriving at the jail, Weatherall was instructed to exit the patrol vehicle. During this process, deputies discovered a red plastic baggie containing a white powdery substance in Weatherall’s possession. A field test later confirmed the substance to be cocaine, weighing approximately 3 grams.

Hopkins County officials updated Weatherall’s charges to include felony possession of less than one gram of cocaine. The evidence was logged and submitted for testing as part of the ongoing investigation.

“This is a clear reminder of the importance of thorough searches and diligence throughout the transport process,”.

Weatherall is currently being held at the Hopkins County Jail as he awaits his court appearance. Bond details were not immediately available at the time of this release.
