Texas topped the country for speeding-related deaths in 2022, with 1,371 fatalities, followed by California with 1,269, and North Carolina with 598. According to a new study by truckinfo.net, a major Dallas highway ranks among the top five most dangerous roads for speeding in the U.S.
The study, based on 2022 speeding crash statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and U.S. Census Bureau population data, revealed that speeding contributed to nearly one-third of all traffic deaths. Since 2019, speeding-related fatalities in the U.S. have risen by 25%.

- I-15 in San Bernardino County, California: 22 fatalities
- I-10 in Maricopa County, Arizona: 17 fatalities
- U.S. 60 in Maricopa County, Arizona: 14 fatalities
- I-10 in Riverside County, California: 12 fatalities
- I-30 in Dallas County, Texas: 12 fatalities
- I-95 Delaware Expressway in Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania
- I-40 in Coconino County, Arizona: 9 fatalities
- U.S. 10 in Pinal County, Arizona: 9 fatalities
- I-35 in Travis County, Texas: 9 fatalities
- I-17 in Maricopa County, Arizona: 9 fatalities
While national speeding-related crashes have gradually dropped since 2013, the increase in fatalities over the last four years highlights the ongoing risk of speeding. Arizona leads with five of the most dangerous roadways, while Texas has two, including I-30 in Dallas County.
