Sulphur Springs Man Arrested for Assault Family Violence

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — February 1, 2025: Selvin Mauricio Rodriguez, a 39-year-old man from Sulphur Springs, was arrested early Saturday morning following a domestic disturbance reported at a residence on Woodlawn Street.

According to the affidavit, Sulphur Springs officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a call about a domestic altercation. Upon arrival, the victim informed officers that an argument had escalated into physical violence. Rodriguez allegedly punched the victim in the chest with a closed fist, placed his hands around their neck, and choked them, impeding their ability to breathe.

Rodriguez was arrested on charges of assault family violence with impeding breath. He was transported to the Hopkins County Jail without incident. Law enforcement emphasizes the importance of addressing domestic violence cases to protect victims and maintain community safety.
