Man Arrested in Sulphur Springs for Possession of Controlled Substances

Interstate 30 Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — February 3, 2025: Osama Yehia Elmobdy , a 46-year-old man from Ewing, New Jersey, was arrested in Sulphur Springs after a traffic stop led to the discovery of controlled substances.

According to the affidavit, Elmobdy was stopped for speeding 96 mph in a 75 mph zone. During the traffic stop, Sgt. Miller detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. A probable cause search was conducted, and officers found multiple THC vape pens, marijuana cigarettes, and THC gummies. The total weight of the substances exceeded 4 grams.

Elmobdy was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance (greater than 4 grams but less than 400 grams). He was transported to the Hopkins County Jail without incident. His vehicle was impounded. At the time of this write up Elmobdy shows to have been released from the Hopkins County Jail.
