Sulphur Springs Woman Arrested for Assault and Injury to Elderly

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX — February 2, 2025: Sheila Jo Knutson, a 58-year-old woman from Sulphur Springs, was arrested Sunday afternoon following a domestic disturbance reported at a residence on League Street.

According to the affidavit, officers responded to the scene after receiving a call about an active disturbance. Upon arrival, the victim, a 78-year-old, informed officers that Knutson had pushed and punched them in the face, causing pain. EMS treated the victim on the scene. Witnesses stated that the suspect appeared intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Officers made contact with Knutson in her apartment. After initially refusing to comply with commands, she admitted to a physical altercation with the victim. Knutson was arrested and charged with (injury to a child, elderly individual, or disabled person). She was transported to the Hopkins County Jail without incident.

Law enforcement highlights the importance of addressing violence involving vulnerable individuals to ensure community safety.
