Texas Rangers Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting in Kaufman County

Kaufman County, TX — February 4, 2025: The Texas Rangers are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early this morning near Crandall, Texas. The incident followed a vehicle pursuit initiated by a Kaufman County Deputy for a traffic violation.

The suspect refused to stop and led deputies on a chase that ended in the 1400 block of US Highway 175. After exiting the vehicle, the suspect attempted to flee on foot. Deputies pursued the suspect, who exchanged gunfire with officers. During the exchange, the suspect was struck by gunfire.

The injured suspect was transported to a Dallas-area hospital for medical treatment and is reported to be in stable condition. No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident. This case is currently under investigation by the Texas Rangers Division at the request of the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office.

The Texas Department of Public Safety states that no additional information will be released until the investigation is complete.
