HOPKINS COUNTY, TX – On February 7, 2025, May West Wilson, 58, of Paris, Texas, was arrested by Texas Parks and Wildlife officers at the Tira Boat Ramp. The arrest followed a detailed investigation into suspicious activity involving a black Chevy Malibu parked improperly without a park permit.

According to the arrest affidavit, State Park Police Officer Scott Henderson was informed of a vehicle emitting a marijuana odor. Upon inspection, Wilson admitted to smoking earlier and allowed officers to conduct a search. During the search, officers uncovered:

  • 3 marijuana joints in a glass pipe container
  • A Ruger .380 handgun inside a zippered bag
  • A plastic bag containing a substance identified as methamphetamine

Wilson was charged with possession of a controlled substance (less than 1 gram) and unlawful carrying of a firearm. She was transported to Hopkins County Jail without incident. During the process, her husband, who was fishing nearby, was allowed to retrieve their vehicle from the scene.

Authorities commended Officer Henderson and Officer King for their professionalism and swift action, ensuring public safety during the operation. The investigation highlights law enforcement’s ongoing efforts to maintain a drug-free community.
