Omar Kamil Arrested for Methamphetamine Possession in Hopkins County

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX – On February 13, 2025, at approximately 9:55 PM, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a white Mazda CX9 along IH30 Frontage Road in Hopkins County. The driver, identified as Omar Kamil, 45, of Richardson, Texas, was found in possession of methamphetamine.

According to the arrest affidavit, Kamil was stopped for a missing front license plate. During the stop, officers observed a yellow bag in the passenger seat that, upon probable cause search, contained methamphetamine and a meth pipe.

Kamil was taken into custody and transported to the Hopkins County Jail. He was charged with Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1 <1G. His vehicle was impounded.

The Texas DPS continues to investigate the case. No further details have been released at this time.
