February 29, 2025 – Cooper, TX – A high-speed police pursuit that began in Rains County came to a dramatic conclusion Thursday evening in Delta County after the suspect’s vehicle lost control, flipping several times before coming to a stop.
The chase, which reached speeds of over 100 miles per hour, ended near the intersection of Highway 154 and Country Club Road in Cooper, where the vehicle overturned multiple times, trapping the driver inside.
Law enforcement officers from multiple agencies, including the Rains County Sheriff’s Office, Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office, Delta County Sheriff’s Office, Texas DPS, and emergency responders from Delta County EMS, AirEvac 67, and local fire departments, were dispatched to the scene.
Authorities temporarily shut down Highway 154 to allow emergency crews to extricate the driver from the wreckage safely. Motorists were advised to use Country Club Road as an alternate route while emergency personnel worked at the crash site.
UPDATE (4:25 PM): Officials have confirmed that Highway 154 has been reopened to traffic.
The condition of the driver has not yet been disclosed, and it is unclear if any additional charges will be filed in connection with the pursuit.
