Suspicious Person Call Leads to Two Arrests in Hopkins County

HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas – A routine suspicious person call on March 6, 2025, led to the arrests of two individuals on drug-related charges in Hopkins County.

Deputies with the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious person walking along Interstate 30. Upon arrival, they encountered Rodney Crear, 46, who was walking alongside a female. During their interaction, deputies observed a glass pipe commonly used for smoking methamphetamine among Crear’s belongings. Upon receiving consent to search his bag, additional drug paraphernalia was found.

Crear was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Authorities also found an outstanding criminal mischief warrant against him for property damage valued between $100 and $750.

The woman accompanying Crear was identified as Debi Marie Moody, of Lake Highlands, Texas. During the encounter, deputies also discovered a similar methamphetamine pipe among her belongings. Moody was taken into custody on a possession of drug paraphernalia charge.

Both individuals were transported to the Hopkins County Detention Center and booked without incident.
