Traffic Stop in Hopkins County Leads to Drug Arrest
HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas – A routine traffic stop in Hopkins County led to the arrest of a man found in possession of over a pound of marijuana early Saturday morning.
According to the Sulphur Springs Police Department, officers stopped a vehicle around 1:44 a.m. on March 8, 2025, near Interstate 30 for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Keylon Tremajne Satterwhite, 25, of McKinney, Texas, was pulled over for a vehicle infraction.
During the stop, Officers detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A subsequent probable cause search led to the discovery of two large air-sealed bags containing a leafy green substance in the trunk. Upon questioning, Satterwhite admitted ownership of the bags.
Law enforcement officials weighed the seized marijuana at the Hopkins County Jail, confirming it totaled 1.108 pounds. Satterwhite was arrested and charged with POSS MARIJ <= 5LBS > 4OZ oz, classified as a state jail felony.
