HOPKINS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities in Hopkins County arrested a man in connection with the theft of a motorcycle and the possession of counterfeit currency.
On March 8, 2025, law enforcement officers from the Sulphur Springs Police Department received a report about a stolen motorcycle. Dispatchers indicated the motorcycle was last seen traveling northbound on Texas Highway 154. Officers later spotted what they believed to be the stolen vehicle at a car wash located in the 200 block of E. Shannon Road.
Upon investigation, officers identified Joshua Arron Hudson, 30, standing next to the suspected stolen motorcycle. Authorities made contact with Hudson, who admitted to operating the motorcycle and claimed he had purchased it in Quitman. However, a check with the Quitman Police Department confirmed the motorcycle had been reported stolen.
Hudson was detained at the scene and taken into custody. During a search, officers discovered $5,700 in counterfeit U.S. currency in his pocket. Investigators determined that the counterfeit bills were used in the alleged “purchase” of the stolen motorcycle.
Hudson was transported to the Hopkins County Jail, where he was booked on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle and forgery. He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
