SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas – A Sulphur Springs woman was arrested following a domestic dispute that resulted in injuries, according to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a disturbance at a residence in Sulphur Springs on March 16, 2025. According to the report, a woman had suffered bodily injuries to her face and arms after a physical altercation.
Upon arrival, officers identified the suspect as Anita Cornelia Martin, 60. The victim, who is reportedly Martin’s daughter, told deputies that Martin had assaulted her during an argument. Officers observed visible injuries, including a busted lip, facial scratches, and bruising on the victim’s arms.
According to a witness at the scene, Martin was the primary aggressor. The victim’s mother, who was also present, corroborated the victim’s statement. However, Martin alleged that her daughter had instigated the fight by pushing her against a vehicle.
Due to the evidence and witness statements, deputies determined Martin was responsible for the altercation. She was taken into custody and booked into the Hopkins County Jail on a charge of Assault Family Violence.
Martin was later released to jail staff, where she was booked without further incident.
The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office reminds residents that domestic violence is a serious offense and encourages anyone experiencing family violence to seek assistance from local support organizations.
