PARIS, Texas – A man in Paris, Texas is recovering after being shot while confronting a burglary suspect early Tuesday morning, according to the Lamar County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a report of an attempted vehicle burglary on FM 905 at approximately 3:00 a.m. on March 19, 2025. A homeowner had called authorities after interrupting a suspect attempting to break into vehicles parked outside their residence.
As deputies were en route, they received another call regarding a separate vehicle burglary incident in the same area, this time involving a gunshot victim.
Upon arrival, authorities spoke with the homeowner, who stated that he had heard noises outside and went to investigate. As he approached his driveway, he encountered an individual attempting to break into his **parked vehicle**.
During the confrontation, the suspect fired a weapon, striking the homeowner before fleeing the scene in a dark-colored vehicle.
According to family members, the victim was transported to a Dallas-area hospital for treatment and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case, and further details will be released as they become available.
