TERRELL, Texas – A tragic crash in Terrell, Texas, took the life of 19-year-old Bryson Malachi Barnes, and the driver is now facing multiple felony charges.
The incident occurred on March 11, 2025, at approximately 2:49 a.m., near State Highway 205 and Colquitt Road. Officers responded after receiving a crash detection notification from a cell phone.
When authorities arrived, they found a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox that had collided with a traffic light pole. The passenger, Bryson Malachi Barnes, 19, of Wills Point, Texas, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver, 18-year-old Preston David Grosvenor-Reed of Royse City, Texas, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Baylor Hospital in Dallas for treatment.
After being discharged, Grosvenor-Reed was taken into custody and booked into the Kaufman County Jail. He faces the following charges:
- Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle
- Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon
- Possession of Controlled Substance PG 2 < 1G
- Possession of Marijuana < 2 OZ
- Possession of Controlled Substance PG 1/1B ≥ 4G < 200G
- Possession of Controlled Substance PG 3 < 28G
Kaufman County Jail records indicate his total bond was set at $270,500.
The Terrell Police Department has called in an Advanced Accident Investigation team to conduct a detailed inquiry into the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
