Sulphur Springs Man Arrested for Drug Possession After Traffic Stop

SULPHUR SPRINGS, Texas – A Sulphur Springs man was arrested after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of illegal drugs on March 17, 2025.

According to the Sulphur Springs Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop on West Shannon Road due to a moving violation. The driver, identified as 38-year-old David Bryan Kull, was questioned by officers.

During the stop, officers requested Kull exit the vehicle for further questioning. He consented to a search of his vehicle. As the search proceeded, officers instructed Kull to remove his shoes to check for contraband.

As Kull put his shoes back on and began to walk away, officers observed a clear plastic bag fall from his clothing. The bag contained a crystal-like substance, which later tested positive for methamphetamine. The total weight of the seized narcotic was 1.15 grams.

Kull was immediately detained and read his Miranda rights. Officers secured him in double-locked handcuffs before transporting him to the Hopkins County Jail.

He has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B ≥1G<4G
