FANNIN COUNTY, Texas – A Trenton man has been sentenced to the maximum prison term following a fatal DWI crash that claimed the life of his 8-year-old daughter and severely injured his two other children.
According to prosecutors, Kyle Scott Wilson, 38, was driving at excessive speeds on State Highway 121 on October 14, 2024, when he lost control of his vehicle while intoxicated.
Investigators determined that Wilson was traveling at over 130 mph at the time of the crash. His blood alcohol content (BAC) was more than twice the legal limit, confirming that he was heavily impaired.
Tragically, his 8-year-old daughter, Dorothy Ann Wilson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle and died from her injuries. Wilson’s other two children, ages 6 and 10, suffered severe injuries but survived.
On Wednesday, March 20, 2025, Fannin County District Attorney John Skotnik announced that Wilson had been sentenced to 20 years in prison for intoxication manslaughter and 10 years each for two counts of intoxication assault.
“This was a tragic and entirely preventable crime against these children,” said First Assistant District Attorney Nathan Young. “He deserves the maximum sentence, and keeping him off the roads makes our county safer.”
Wilson will serve his sentence in Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) custody. The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office and local law enforcement agencies have emphasized the importance of **DWI prevention and responsible driving.
