VAN ZANDT COUNTY, Texas – Authorities are on the lookout for a third suspect involved in a burglary that took place twice in a single day at a residence in Van Zandt County.
According to the Van Zandt County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were initially dispatched to a burglary call where items had been stolen from a home. While taking the report, officers believed the suspects might return to steal more belongings.
Deputies remained in the area and were soon alerted when the **homeowner called 911 again**, stating that the **suspects had returned**.
Officials say that the victim and an acquaintance attempted to detain the suspects, but one individual fled the scene on foot while others left in a vehicle.
Deputies quickly located the fleeing vehicle nearby and arrested Gaston Mathews of Larue and Bailey Hefley of Mabank. Mathews was booked on burglary of a habitation charges, while Hefley was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Further investigation led authorities to identify the third suspect as Jessy Pierce of Eustace, who managed to evade capture. Pierce is wanted for burglary of a habitation and faces additional charges in Van Zandt County and other jurisdictions.
Officials are asking anyone with information regarding Pierce’s whereabouts to contact 911 immediately and to refrain from attempting to apprehend him.
