Commerce Police Recover Stolen Property, Seek Burglary Suspect Edward Wayne Garcia

COMMERCE, Texas – On the morning of March 24, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Commerce Police responded to a reported building burglary and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the Fourth Street area.

Officers collected detailed information from the victim and canvassed the neighborhood for additional evidence. Less than 17 hours later, at approximately 2:08 a.m. on March 25, officers responded to a separate call in the 2200 block of Live Oak Street, where they observed multiple items matching the stolen property reported the previous morning.

Further investigation confirmed the property was linked to the original burglary, and officers were able to identify the stolen vehicle nearby with assistance from East Texas A&M Police. The recovery included thousands of dollars worth of stolen goods.

While in the area of Tractor Supply around 4:08 a.m., officers encountered a man matching the suspect’s description. The individual fled on foot and was not located at the time. Later, the Commerce Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained arrest warrants for Edward Wayne Garcia.

Garcia is wanted on three charges stemming from the investigation: burglary of a building, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, and burglary of a motor vehicle. He is also currently wanted out of Hopkins County for theft of property.
