COMMERCE, TX — A multi-agency investigation has led to the arrest of a 73-year-old Commerce woman after law enforcement officers discovered a significant amount of illegal narcotics at her home.

According to the Hunt County Sheriff’s Office, with support from the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office and Commerce Police Department, an investigation began in February 2025 into Mary Dean, suspected of distributing methamphetamine from her residence on Washington Street.

Investigators uncovered that Dean has an extensive criminal record for drug-related crimes dating back to 2002. In 2006, she was convicted and sentenced to 75 years in prison for narcotics distribution. However, she was released after just seven years and remains on parole until the year 2081.

On March 26, 2025, the Hunt County SWAT team executed a narcotics search warrant at Dean’s home. Officers located approximately 130 grams of methamphetamine and 5 grams of cocaine inside the residence.

Dean was arrested and charged with Manufacturing or Delivery of a Controlled Substance in Penalty Group 1 (between 4 and 200 grams) in a drug-free zone, and an additional charge for 1 to 4 grams of a controlled substance, also in a drug-free zone.

She is currently being held in the Hunt County Jail with bond set at $400,000.
